RULES:
- Promoter has the right to approve or reject any entry. No vans, ambulances, or El Camino type allowed.
- Remove all fiberglass panels, all plastic panels and glass, including windshield. Remove all molding,
rear seats, hood latches, factory gas tanks, all wheel weights and door handles. - No welding on frame except for mounting bumper, motor mounts, repairs or rewelding from where you notched and pre-bent.
- Stock bumpers should be welded, chained, bolted or all. Bumper can be no higher than 22 inches. It
can be welded directly to the frame (C-bumper rule). - Rear frame rail no lower than 14 inches at the 2nd body bolt from rear bumper. Body bolts can be
changed. No washers more than 3 inches round. No washers welded to frame. - Doors can be welded, chained, or wired shut. Trunk lid and tail gate may be bolted or welded shut with 3/8 bolts & washers or 3/8 rebar. No larger than 3/8 rebar or 2” wide 1/4” thick strip, if it is you will have to cut it.
- Four bar interior cage is allowed, may not contact frame, firewall, motor or transmission or extend
more than 12 inches behind the driver seat or attach to floor. No bar up to firewall from dashbar, rollbar is OK, but must be straight up and down in center of driver’s compartment. - Hood may be wired in six places with no more than two strands of wire per hole, two of which can
go through hood, radiator support and bumper. No wire in front of radiator. Max 9 gauge wire, no
bolting unless you have 1/2 hood; if you have 1/2 hood you may run allthread from core support bolts through top of hood. - Trunk or roof may be stuffed down, but on a sedan must have a minimum 6 inch space between spaker channel and tunnel all the way across. 12 inch space between trunk lid and trunk pan. On
wagon, must have 6 inch gap between roof and floor. - Two vertical wires or bars in center of windshield. If fan blade becomes exposed, car is disqualified.
- Gas tank is to be placed in backseat area, on mini cars if tank is in drivers rear floor board, may have
one kicker from cage over tank. Tank may not be installed in car so as to control the bending of car,
such as no thick plates under gas tank. On big cars gas tank protector allowed no wider than 24” and
may continue all the way back to the rear firewall, but not frame. - SUSPENSION may be solid, (C-Rule about leaf spring conversion). NO PLATES TO CONTROL BENDING OF FRAME.
- TIRES – round and black. No tires smaller than 24”in height.
- Only one battery allowed, secured and covered. NO CARBURETOR PROTECTORS.
- Engine swap is allowed, must have 15×15 inch hole in hood. Distributor protector allowed may not
mount to front of engine. - Fuel pump must have shut off switch if electric.
- Pre-run car must be able to see under rain channel of trunk seam and have 15×15 hole in trunk.
- Frame may be bolted through horizontally in one place, in the rear end area with “A” bolt and 2 inch
washer. One place on driver side and one place on passenger side. - No interior seam welding on body panels.
- Body must have 1” space between frame. No washers wider than 3”. No washer or bolting thru bottom of frame, inside of frame only. Any size bolt.
- Frame can be repaired with a maximum 3x3x1/4” patch maximum. 2 per side of car and only if we see clear evidence frame was damaged. So call first, if it ain’t bent, don’t fix it.
- Cars that ran with us in 2011 still have to meet these new rules to run in 2022.
- Brakes must be mounted at wheels only, not on drive line.
- Driver may choose to run 1 of the following: a distributor guard or a 22” hump plate that is 22” at the widest point, with the center located at the center of the hump and no thicker than 1/4” applies to big car divisions only. If you run a 1977 or newer GM, you may use guard and hump plates or guard or leaf spring conversion. All GMs may have distributor guard.
- Quarter panels must be straight up and down, not folded over, no added steel.
- A Ford bumper shock 9s 9.5 inches long, and yours will be no longer. You will use a bumper shock and nothing else. No steel tube, pipe, etc. if you shorten the frame, then you shorten the bumper shock the same amount. You can not relocate the mounting position of the rear of the bumper shock. It is 13 inches forward of the front sway bar bolt.
- No home-made bumpers. No added steel to bumpers. I don’t care where or when you ran it before.
Even if you ran it at Derby King show, you can’t run it now. - You can run an engine cradle, but you must run factory mount. No fabricated mounts. Engine cradle can attach at engine mounts only. No chains. If you run a pulley protector, you may not have a front sway bar.
- On 2003 and newer Fords, Lincolns, and Mercurys: If installing a-frame and k-frames, they must be
located the same as they were on the donor car, not staggered. - Leaf spring conversion: If you are running a 1977 and newer body style GM car, you may choose to run a 36 inch hump plate or convert to a 4-leaf spring pack with the springs being 3/8” thick, 2-1/2” wide, 62” long, not welded together. 2 clamps per side (flat leaf is okay), with 2 inch stair step on springs on large cars only.
- Rear Window Bar: 18” long, straight up and down, welded to the roof and speaker deck. Roof may not be beat down. Remember, 6” space between speaker channel and tunnel box. RUNNING OF THE CAR
Running of the Car:
- D.O.T. approved racing helmet, goggles and seat belt are required at all times while on track.
- One fire will result in disqualification. Fire extinguisher is recommended in the car.
- All cars must have dependable brakes at all times, and boundaries must be observed. Drivers must stay in car with ALL safety gear in place until RED flag; out of car out of race.
- One minute contact rule enforced. NO double teaming or sandbagging. This WILL result in disqualification. The last car to make contact is the winner!
- ANYTHING left out of rules will be left up to the OFFICIALS. All decisions of the officials are FINAL.
- No deliberate driver’s door hitting, but no use of driver’s door as a shield will be permitted.
- POOR SPORTSMANSHIP OF ANY KIND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
- Drivers a re responsible for all persons in their company.
- All persons in the pit area must sign in and purchase a pit-pass.
- Complaints will be heard from drivers only. No wives, girlfriends, or pitmen, etc.
- NO CHILDREN allowed in the pits
